Controlled Substance Prescribing PolicyMurphy Neuropsychiatry focuses on comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, accurate diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, and long-term wellness. As part of this philosophy, the practice does not prescribe controlled substances, including stimulant medications for ADHD (such as Adderall®, Vyvanse®, or Ritalin®), benzodiazepines (such as Xanax®, Ativan®, or Klonopin®), or other medications regulated because of their potential for misuse or dependence.
CARE ACROSS LIFESPANS
Adolescents
Adolescence is a time of rapid emotional, social, and neurological development. Murphy Neuropsychiatry provides evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for concerns like mood disorders, anxiety, emerging neurodevelopmental concerns, and behavioral challenges while partnering with families to support healthy development.
Transitional-Age Youth
The years between adolescence and adulthood bring unique challenges. College, career decisions, increasing independence, changing relationships, and identity development often coincide with the emergence or recognition of psychiatric and neurodevelopmental concerns.
Murphy Neuropsychiatry has a particular interest in supporting transitional-age youth as they navigate this important stage of life through thoughtful diagnosis, medication management, and comprehensive neurodevelopmental evaluation.
Adults
Many adults seek care after years of managing symptoms independently or receiving treatments that never fully explained their experiences. Caregivers may wonder about their own experiences after their child has received a diagnosis.
Whether addressing anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, or complex diagnostic questions, Murphy Neuropsychiatry provides individualized care designed to promote long-term wellness and understanding.
Comprehensive Neuropsychiatric Evaluations
Sometimes the question is not, “What medication should I take?”
Sometimes the question is, “Why have I always experienced the world differently?”
Neuropsychiatric evaluations provide an opportunity to better understand longstanding patterns involving social communication, executive functioning, emotional regulation, attention, sensory experiences, and other aspects of neurodevelopment.
Evaluations are comprehensive, physician-led, and individualized. Each assessment integrates developmental history, psychiatric evaluation, and personalized observations.
The goal is not simply to determine whether someone meets diagnostic criteria. It is to provide meaningful understanding that guides future treatment, education, relationships, and personal growth.
