We’ll discuss your concerns, history, goals, and determine whether psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment, a neuropsychiatric evaluation, or a combination of these modalities are appropriate.

Comprehensive Evaluation
Appointments are conducted through a secure telehealth platform and include an in-depth review of developmental, psychiatric, medical, educational, and social history.

Feedback Session
You’ll receive a detailed discussion of findings, diagnostic impressions, and individualized recommendations.

Ongoing care
When appropriate, Murphy Neuropsychiatry provides short and long term psychotherapy, continued psychiatric treatment, medication management, and coordination with your therapists, primary care providers, schools, or other professionals involved in your care.

Yes. Comprehensive physician-led autism evaluations are a primary area of specialty, particularly for adolescents and adults seeking diagnostic clarification later in life.
Results of autism evaluations are provided to you for your discretionary use. Murphy Neuropsychiatry does not complete forms such as disability or other forms of accommodation requests.

Yes. All appointments are conducted through a secure HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.

Yes. Medication management is available when clinically appropriate as part of comprehensive psychiatric care.
Because Dr. Murphy provides care through telemedicine visits, he does not prescribe controlled medications (like stimulants, opiates, or benzodiazepines).
Controlled Substance Policy:
Murphy Neuropsychiatry focuses on comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, accurate diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, and long-term wellness. As part of this philosophy, the practice does not prescribe controlled substances, including stimulant medications for ADHD (such as Adderall®, Vyvanse®, or Ritalin®), benzodiazepines (such as Xanax®, Ativan®, or Klonopin®), or other medications regulated because of their potential for misuse or dependence.

Murphy Neuropsychiatry currently serves patients in the District of Columbia and Virginia, with Hawaii coming soon.
You must physically be in one of these locations to be seen at the time of your appointment.

Murphy Neuropsychiatry is a private-pay practice. Payment is due at the time of service. We do not bill insurance directly.
Dr. Murphy also participates with select insurance plans through Headway for certain services (excluding autism evaluations). Insurance-based care is scheduled and billed separately through Headway.
